Creating Fall Curb Appeal

Are you getting ready for Fall? My house is in full Fall effect right now, or at least getting there one area at a time!

After living in Hawaii for so long, the one thing I really missed from the Mainland was Fall!! I would dream of boots, sweaters, pumpkin patches and warm coffee. Adding some fall decor to your home really can make this time of season a little more magical…no matter where you live.

Having a house for the first time, I am totally obsessed with my front porch. I love that I get to switch it up for every season and holiday. I am always out there re-doing and adding new things. I’m pretty sure I scare all my neighbors and they think I’m super weird! 😉 Fall is the perfect time to give your front porch a makeover. There are so many options! My favorite go-to fall decor options for the front porch are:

• Pumpkins- different colors and styles (I normally only go for the white and light green, but there are lots of colors available… pick what you like best and fits your style.)
• Mums (so many colors…you can’t go wrong)
• Hay Bundles
• Fall signs (Welcome, Gather, Fall Y’all, Blessed..etc.)
• Wreaths or some kind of Door Decoration
• Something Vintage (I always love incorporating something from my European Treasures)
• Pinecones
• Metal/Wood Baskets and Tubs
• Lanterns
• Door Mats

The new thing that I really love to do is layering my front door mat. Simple…Easy…and makes a huge difference in the appearance! There’s really not much to this trick. Just pick out your favorite door mat and mix it with a larger flat weaved rug. Done!!! Told you it was easy! You just need to check all your sizes, your bottom mat needs to be larger. Normally a 2X3 flat rug works awesome. I actually prefer a 3X5, I think it’s a little more dramatic and I love that you can see more of the bottom mat. Also, consider the size of your porch. How much space do you have? Small space a smaller 2X3 would be perfect. Larger space..go big or go home…right???
