Okay…so looks like week 5 just flew by! Yikes, I still have so much to get done. Time to really buckle down and get serious. Just so we are clear, I have been buckled down and completely serious this whole time. Renovating a Master Bathroom in just 6 weeks from the studs up is not for the faint of heart. So, I’m going to make this week short and sweet, and then back to work for me.
This week was all about the niche…That’s right it took me all week to build one niche. This guy was no joke! I had to cut down 5 rows of 2 X 4 framing studs. Then, I had to stabilize the wall all over again and frame out the new niche. All while not going through the back wall, which is my staircase. I can’t promise I don’t have some repair holes to patch up.
Each project I seem to learn how to do something new and different. This niche is going to be so worth all the trouble in the end. It ended up measuring 4 ft long and 18″ wide. Now, if that doesn’t hold all my bathing products, we have a completely different problem to work on.
So, it’s week 5 and I officially have all of my walls back. Oh my goodness…Someone send help!!! I couldn’t be happier to be all finished with the cement boards. If I never see another cement board in my life I will be one happy lady. I have a feeling it’s not the last time, though. Now, that the walls are completely finished, back to tiling. First, I covered all the walls with RedGaurd to add an extra layer of protection from the water.
Next, I need to decide on a color for the grout…I am still all over the place with that decision! I was thinking black, of course! 😉 But, I am worried the black grout will stain the white marble, so I going to do a tester board first and make sure we are good to go with the grout color selection!!!
Wish me luck!!! So much has to get done this upcoming week…I got this…right??? Don’t forget to check out all the other designers week 5 progress in The Jeffrey Court Challenge.
What to look back from the beginning???

I think you are just awesome! Get at it and do the best you can.
I wish I would have made my shower niche larger, hardly any shampoo bottles fit in it!
