Goodbye 2018…Hello 2019

Our Year in Review: 2018 Top Blog Posts

It’s hard to believe that 2018 is coming to an end. Jen and I launched our blog September 28th and it has been a crazy, amazing, exciting, sometimes overwhelming adventure ever since. Can you believe it has only been 3 months?? We can’t either!! Time has flown by and we have loved bringing to life all our DIY projects and tutorials, renovations, and just sharing our homes with all of you. We have learned a lot in the process and I am sure have lots more to learn…but through all of it the best part has been connecting with our readers and hearing about your projects and hopefully inspiring others to add a little DIY into their lives.

Here are a few of our favorite blog posts so far and a recap of the most popular with the readers over our first 3 months. We hope you have enjoyed ALL we have shared so far. There are lots of ideas floating around in our notebooks for the New Year, so be looking out for those. If you have a great idea for us, we would love to hear about it too. Let’s make 2019 a GREAT Year!!!

Make Your Own DIY Scandinavian Wreath

So, if you haven’t noticed yet, Scandinavian Wreaths are one of my go-to favorite things to decorate with. After living in Germany, I fell in love with the look of these Scandinavian styled wreaths. They are so simple, yet at the same time so beautiful and add so much to a space. I just can’t get enough of them. Not only do I love using them for all my decorative needs, I really love making them as well. I recently used one in our $50 Mantle Makeover post. I have another one coming in my next house makeover and I just finished one off this weekend for a Master-bedroom Makeover. These are a great craft all year long, not just for Christmas!

You can have one too…so simple to make all yourself!!

DIY Flocked Christmas Tree

Flocking is all the rage right now and I have a feeling it isn’t going away anytime soon…

Tree flocking became popular in the late 1950s and 1960s, along with aluminum trees and other glitzy, non natural-looking decor of the post-war boom. General Mills marketed Sno-Flok home kits, which were applied using a gun that attached to a vacuum cleaner. Umm…Can I still get one of those? Now, those flocked trees are coming back with a vengeance and you don’t have to just buy them in the stores, you can make them yourselves.

Jello Fluff Recipe

Holidays are a great time for family memories and sharing meals with our loved ones. Every family has their own traditions and favorite dishes that they love or have at all holiday gatherings. One of my families most requested dishes is my Mom’s Jello Fluff. She has made it in many different flavors; raspberry, lime, orange, strawberry, the possibilities are as endless as jello flavors. Usually, I make the fluff with raspberry jello, but orange is delicious too. I am guessing my Mom started making it because my brother and I would not touch cranberry sauce and it has been on our holiday table ever since. I make it every year now too since it doesn’t seem like a holiday without it!
